About the event
Whether or not you attended Part I of this workshop, you should absolutely join us for Part II! This session builds on our earlier Brownfields 101 training and Townmaker LABS and moves us into the real work of decision‑making, using data, community priorities, and scenario analysis to shape a redevelopment strategy that reflects what we want for our neighborhoods.
This workshop is designed for residents, local leaders, and community‑based organizations who are ready to take the next step: moving from understanding the data to using it as a tool for action and reinvestment. Even if you’re joining for the first time, you’ll be able to jump right in.
Why You Should Be There
This is where the community starts shaping real choices. What we will cover:
A summary of community priorities identified so far
A walkthrough of how weighting works and how it changes which sites rise to the top
Two rounds of scenario analysis, where participants explore different redevelopment pathways and discuss trade‑offs
A group conversation on next steps, beginning to outline a community‑driven action strategy
We’re not waiting for outside developers or agencies to decide what happens on our blocks. By learning how to interpret data, test scenarios, and weigh priorities, we build the power to guide redevelopment on our own terms.
Part II is hands‑on, collaborative, and designed to help us move from information to impact—together!
Delta Institute
A Midwest‑based nonprofit with more than 20 years of experience helping communities strengthen environmental resilience, plan for sustainable development, and turn data into action. Their team specializes in community engagement, climate planning, land use strategy, and practical tools that help neighborhoods shape their own futures. “We envision a region in which all communities and landscapes thrive…” (Delta Institute).
Indiana Brownfields Program (IBP)
A state resource that helps communities reduce environmental barriers to redevelopment. IBP provides environmental consulting, site reviews, and technical guidance to support safe cleanup and reinvestment in contaminated sites. Their mission is to help Indiana communities turn contaminated or underused properties into assets that support economic growth and public health.
KSU TAB (Kansas State University Technical Assistance to Brownfields)
A nationally recognized EPA‑funded program that provides free technical assistance to communities working to assess, clean up, and redevelop brownfield sites. They help residents, local governments, and grassroots organizations understand environmental data, navigate redevelopment processes, and build the capacity needed to lead community‑driven revitalization.
